Our first day

Congratulations on surviving the first  day of Kindergarten! We all enjoyed meeting each other and making new friends.

This year I am very happy to be working with Mrs. Gail Lenck who will be my Assistant in both the AM and PM classes.

Thanks to all who waited patiently in the drop-off and pick-up lines. Overall I think it went well. As the days go by, it will flow smoother and quicker. Thank you for your cooperation.

During this first day in class the children were introduced to the daily routine of lining up, walking to the classroom, unpacking backpacks, taking attendance, doing calendar, weather, pledge, singing songs and enjoying snack. The morning class even met with the Librarian, Mrs. Stochai.
The afternoon class will meet every  Tuesday for Library with Mrs. Hedin.

The children enjoyed listening to some books, including Otto Goes To SchooI, I Am Too Absolutely Small for School, The Kissing Hand, and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, to name few. These books address school anxiety and help to alleviate “worries” that some children may have at the onset of school. Continue to read to your child daily.

During snack time I noticed that several children had very "ample" snacks. Please pack a small snack, as I only give the children about 15 minutes. Also, many backpacks and lunch boxes were not labeled. Please take the time to put your child's name on anything that comes out of their backpack. We do share the room, so any items left behind that are not identified will immediately go into a "Lost and Found" basket.  Also, if you  have not already done so, please return the health forms and any other emergency cards that need to go on file in the Main Office.

The District will be sending home consent forms for photos. After I receive these forms, I hope to be able to post more pictures, but must have parental consent.

We have several birthdays in September and I will contact you  to tell you how we celebrate birthdays  in kindergarten.

NOTE:The AM class will have their first Gym class on Monday (9/8) and the PM class will have Gym on Wednesday. Please remember to dress your child accordingly. Girls should wear clothing that will not interfere with movement. Rubber soled shoes are required to participate in gym class.

I will put reminder notices in your child's folder this Friday. Remember, it will be your responsibility throughout the year to check their folder daily as there may be important notices, etc. that will inform you of activities in class and at Wilson Primary Center.

My first blog

I'm excited to tell you that I'm starting a blog this year and here's where you can keep up with whats happening in Room 112 at Wilson Primary Center.
This is my first blog post and this will be my format for sharing and communicating with you throughout the year. This will help keep you informed on what learning is taking place in our classroom as well as topics and activities that we will have to look forward to. It will also give you suggestions and activities that you can do at home with your child to reinforce and extend various lessons and concepts that your child is learning in school. From time to time I will post photos that you can access by clicking this link: Judi's Gallery.

Start now by seeing some photos of what room #112 looked like at the end of June and how far it has progressed! You can see it's been a "work in progress"!

I hope to meet you in person in Room #112 on Sept. 2 at the designated AM and PM times. Bring your biggest smile as I will be taking student pictures to place around the classroom throughout the year. And think about your 2 favorite flavors of ice cream because you will have a quick coloring assignment to do during your visit.

If you are unable to visit on Tuesday, then I will be looking forward to meeting you on our first day of school, Thursday, Sept. 4th.  Check your letter from our Principal, Mr. Felix Gil, for the arrival and dismissal times and procedures.

See you soon!
Mrs. Fisher
